Cecelia Bellcross is an Assistant Professor in the
Department of Human Genetics at the Emory University School of Medicine, where
she also directs the Genetic Counseling Training Program. Once a high school
biology teacher, Bellcross has dedicated her academic career to the study of
genetic counseling, the practice of evaluating a patient’s genetic risk for
certain medical conditions. Her specialties include Cancer Genetic
Counseling/Risk Assessment, Public Health Genetics/Genomics, family history
screening tools in primary care, and Genetic Counselor Education/Training. The
Genetic Counseling Training Program that Bellcross runs at Emory is the only of
its kind in the state of Georgia and prepares students for certification by the
American Board of Genetic Counseling.
