Method for Tagging and Isolating Cells

Application

Tagging and isolating cells; cell selection (sorting); research tool; diagnostic tool.

Technical Summary

This invention is comprised of a cell isolation system. In short, the target cell type to be isolated is engineered to express a protein "tag." This "tag" is subsequently used to isolate the cell by means of a highly selective affinity capture technique coupled to one of several substrates. This simple invention is a significant improvement over existing technology in that it requires shorter incubation times and yields higher percentages of isolated targeted cells (with fewer non-targeted cells). What's more this technique is far less expensive compared to existing cell isolation systems.
