Rama Amara

Rama Amara is a Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Emory University School of Medicine, Professor at the Emory Vaccine Center, Researcher at Yerkes National Primate Research Center, and Investigator at the Emory Center for AIDS Research. With author credits on over 200 scholarly articles, Amara has spent the majority of his career developing both preventative and therapeutic vaccines for HIV and AIDS. His work contributed to an AIDS vaccine that recently began Phase 2a human clinical trials and he has authored 9 patents of his own. Additional research interests include HIV vaccines for the Indian subcontinent, as the locally predominant viral strain differs from that found in the US.
